Results - Opening MXGP moto 2019
Antonio Cairoli (Red Bull KTM Factory) has won the opening MXGP moto of the 2019 season.
From MX Large:
Gajser took the lead early in the MXGP moto, then Cairoli quickly into second, Febvre also in the mix in third place, as was Monticelli in fourth and Paulin fifth. Febvre all over Cairoli for second and looking a little wild.
Gajser got away a little from the others, and Monticelli was working hard to get closer to Cairoli and Febvre. A very fast circuit. Lupino, Bogers, Berdarnini and Leok also inside the top ten. Jasikonis after a good start was down outside the top ten.
Paulin moved into fourth place passing Monticelli, and Cairoli started catching Gajser for the lead and dragging Febvre with him.
Cairoli all over Gajser and Febvre also closing, three guys all together and banging bars. Great action from the first MXGP moto of the season. Bring it on, and let’s hope this is what we can expect in Argentina.
Crowd going crazy as Cairoli pushing Gajser very hard. And to the delight of the crowd he made his way past, but Gajser back into the lead. Cairoli trying every single line he can, and looking amazing as he dived under Gajser for the lead.
Monticelli back past Paulin and Jasikonis up to seventh place and riding really well. Cairoli just controlled the race once in the lead, just as he did so many times in 2018 when he wasn’t battling Jeffrey Herlings.
Cairoli, Febvre and Gajser top three, followed by Paulin, Jasikonis, Leok and Monticelli.
